Neuropsychology expert witness Michael Daniel testified in Clark County Superior Court (WA) that although murder defendant Dennis Wolter may have sustained brain damage from fetal alcohol spectrum disorder in addition to a traumatic brain injury at age 18, the brain damage did not impair Wolter’s ability to premeditate the 2011 murder of his ex-girlfriend, Kori Fredericksen. Jurors found Wolter guilty of the first-degree aggravated murder of Ms. Fredericksen.

Dr. Daniel is a clinical neuropsychologist and Professor and Director of the Neuropsychology Track at Oregon’s Pacific University. He is an in instructor in neuropsychological assessment, fundamentals of behavioral neuroscience, behavioral neurology, and neuropsychiatry

DNA expert witness Andrea Young testified on blood evidence in the Oakland, MI, County Circuit Court felony murder case against Mitchell Young. Victim Robert Cipriano was beaten to death and his wife and son were seriously injured in the home invasion.

Ms. Young is a forensic scientist at the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and testified regarding DNA evidence found on weapons and clothes. On their website, the Michigan State Police describes DNA testing as “conducted on samples submitted by the serology sub-discipline to assist in the identification of individuals that may have left biological fluids at a crime scene.”

Video expert witness Barry G. Dickey testified in Michael Patrick Kennedy’s attempted capital murder case (Texas Court of Appeals, Third District, at Austin). Dickey analyzed footage from the video camera mounted on Officer Richard Kunz’s patrol car and testified that Kunz shot at Kennedy first. “There is no evidence that any other shots were fired prior to Officer Kunz firing his weapon.”

Barry G. Dickey is the certified forensic expert for Audio Evidence Lab, a laboratory specializing in the examination, production, and engineering of audio/video recordings.

Human resources expert witness Jean L. Seawright, CMC, testified in the wrongful death civil lawsuit against concert promoter AEG. Ms. Seawright told jurors that AEG did not follow adequate procedures when hiring Dr. Conrad Murry as Michael Jackson’s doctor. A financial background check would have revealed Dr. Murray was deeply in debt which led to a conflict of interest. AEG was paying Dr. Murray $150K a month to keep Jackson fit for his tour.

Post-traumatic stress syndrome expert witnesses may consult and testify on PTSD, post-traumatic stress reaction, and symptoms of PTSD including nightmares, flashbacks, and emotional detachment. Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Ryan Hall, testified this week for the defense in the alleged rape of a cadet at Camden Military Academy. SC. Dr. Hall said the victim showed few signs of PTSD when he returned to Georgia and was involved in sports, business, Facebook, etc.

Suicide expert witnesses may testify regarding suicide attempts, suicide rates, and suicidal ideation. This week, Dr. Allan Berman testified in the murder trial against ex-Albuquerque police officer Levi Chavez. Chavez is accused of shooting and killing his wife in 2007, and then attempting to make her death look like a suicide.

Dr. Berman, Ph.D., ABPP, is executive director of the American Association of Suicidology.

Cardiology expert witness Dr. Daniel Wohlgelernter testified Tuesday that Dr. Conrad Murray was not qualified to treat Michael Jackson. Jackson’s family is suing concert promoters at AEG Live saying that AEG should be responsible for hiring Dr. Murray.

Dr. Wohlgelernter, Cardiology Consultants of Santa Monica, earned his medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine and has been on the UCLA faculty since 1985. He testified that “Dr. Murray did not have the appropriate training, experience or knowledge to administer propofol.” In addition Dr. Murray did not have the proper equipment or ancillary personnel.

Ernst & Young’s Andre Toh testified as a business valuation expert witness in the trial against three Profitable Plots directors accused of cheating 86 clients in Singapore of more than $8M US. The fraudulent investment plan was the work of Timothy N. Goldring, John A. Nordmann, and Geraldine A. Thomas. Mr. Toh specializes in valuation and business modeling.

BP’s petroleum engineering expert witness testified this week that the company was drilling safely before the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Retired LSU professor Adam T. Bourgoyne Jr. is president of Bourgoyne Enterprises, Inc. and active as a professional petroleum engineer. He described the Deepwater crew as following normal industry practices at the Macondo well. U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana judge Carl J. Barbier is hearing the case. In a separate trial, two BP well supervisors are charged with manslaughter in the deaths of eleven workers.

The forensic psychiatry expert witness who testified in the case against Richard Kachkar said the defendant was difficult to diagnose. Kachkar is charged with the death Toronto police officer Sargent Ryan Russell. Kachkar drove a stolen snowplow through Toronto and struck down Officer Russell.
